How do I apply for an English course?
The information below relates to applications for English language courses at EiBA accredited schools and colleges. Different procedures apply to undergraduate and postgraduate and other academic courses taught in English. Click here for more information on studying in the UK or contact your local British Council for more information.

To apply for an English language course:

• Choose the courses and/or language institutions that interest you. Your nearest British Council office can provide you with the full details of institutions accredited by the English in Britain scheme. You can also visit the 'English in Britain' website for a database of courses.
• Contact the institution of your choice for a prospectus and application form.
• Send your application to the institution you have chosen. In some countries the British Council can assist you with the application process. Otherwise you may apply directly or through an educational agent.
• Wait for your letter of acceptance. This will usually arrive within 2 weeks and will confirm what kind of accommodation you will need. You will also be asked to pay a deposit to secure your place on the course.
• Once you have paid the deposit, you should receive a confirmation letter from the language institution.
• Apply for a visa if necessary. Your confirmation letter may be used to support your visa application. For more information regarding visas, contact your nearest British Embassy or Consulate, or British Council office.
