London St Christopher's Village is situated on Borough High Street, which was the main road to the south and the terminus for coaches in the days when London Bridge was too narrow to carry them to the city. A fire in 1676 and demolition work in 1830 have left very few original buildings standing, but you can still see an original half-timbered house with an overhanging upper floor in the yard at number 50. The bronze statue of a soldier at number 180 is a memorial to the dead of both World Wars.
